“…President Obama and his Secret Service detail took a quick trip to visit tourists at the Lincoln Memorial.”

This is another one of those unconventional Obama photographs I was talking about in my previous post. I remember seeing this on the cover of the New York Times (here’s the link to the article). I just went back to look it up—and I couldn’t believe that it was from way back in April! It has really stuck with me, making me believe that I had seen it much more recently. Truly, that’s how strong an impression this photo made in my memory. I love it because, just as I talk about in my previous post, we see the president in a casual way. Not only does he look happy and vital, but it’s just that nearly off-the-cuff quality of this photograph that really thrills me. This could almost be any man, excitedly ascending the steps of one of our country’s most famous memorials, hoping for a good memory to add to his collection. Given the context of what had recently transpired, these impressions are only bolstered (read the article to see what I mean, I’d prefer not to color your opinion so immediately).
PS: I like the full-frame version a little better, but this was the highest resolution I could find.
